Permits for Landscaping
Do I Need a Permit?
The City of Parkland Code of Ordinances requires a permit be obtained for removal, relocation, or replacement of any tree or palm. All City permits are now exclusively processed online via the e-Permits portal. As a homeowner, you have the option of hiring a licensed, insured and registered contractor to obtain the permit for you, or you may simply submit the application yourself using the below instructions.
Please note that the new e-Permit process means that we are no longer using the old paper forms for synthetic turf permits and tree permits. You will no longer fill out and sign a paper form for landscaping permits. All application information that was previously collected on paper is now typed in by the applicant. Surveys, plans and specification sheets are to be uploaded through the portal in PDF format.
Part I: Creating a Customer Account
- Navigate online to www.mgoconnect.org.
- Select “Customer Portal.”
- Select “Florida” and “Parkland” from the drop-down menus.
- Create a User Account. IMPORTANT: Make sure you follow the step to verify your phone number that is linked to the account.
- After your account creation is complete, and you are logged in, click the red text “Home” at the top left to go back to the main screen where you will begin your application.
Part II: Submitting a Permit Application
- Navigate to the MGO Connect "Home" page at www.mgoconnect.org. Click the green button on the left, “Apply Online for an Engineering/Landscape Permit.”
- Find the correct permit option and click “Open” to begin the application process.
- Enter your contact information. For owner-builder permits under the Landscaping section, a contractor is not required. NOTE: If a contractor is the applicant, they must register with the City first before completing the application. Simply complete the Contractor Registration application on the home page at www.MGOConnect.org and allow 3-5 business days for processing.
- If there is a separate construction permit associated to this property (i.e. for a new pool or driveway), make sure to enter that permit number in the box under the “Questionnaire” section.
- Make sure to type a description of the project under the "Description of work" box. More information is better than less.
- If this permit application is related to a Code Enforcement violation, make sure to indicate so under the “Questionnaire” and provide the "CC" number in the correct box.
- When you get to “File Uploads,” upload all documents that are required for the specific permit type that you selected. All documents must be in PDF format.
- Permit review for a Landscaping permit may take 7-21 days depending on several factors including the quality of your submittal, the number of permits ahead of yours for review, and the current workload of the plan reviewers. You will be able to view the results of the review at any time via the Dashboard.
- Plan Review Fees and Permit Fees will be assessed in accordance with the approved Fee Schedule. Please remember that the permit is not valid (i.e. you are not allowed to begin the work) until it has been approved, paid, and issued to you.
