About the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board

Pursuant to Section 163.3167 of the Florida Statutes, the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board of the City of Parkland is designated and established as the local planning agency of the City. Article II of Chapter 13 of the Parkland Code establishes the criteria of the Planning and Zoning Advisory Board.

The Board is comprised of seven members and two alternates appointed by the City Commission. Board members absent for a total of three regularly scheduled meetings shall be deemed to have vacated their position. The vacancy is placed on the next City Commission Agenda for appointment. A quorum of the Board consists of four members. A recommendation for approval to the City Commission shall obtain a majority vote of the Board. When an item being considered receives a tie vote, the recommendation is for denial.

Responsibilities

The Planning and Zoning Advisory Board is responsible for making recommendations to the City Commission on the following items: rezonings, master plans, plats, site plans, site plan amendments, variances, conditional uses, Community Appearance Board applications, any ordinance related to the land development code (such as a zoning in progress), and changes to the land development code regulations. The Board also serves as the Local Planning Agency and considers land use plan amendments and changes to the Comprehensive Plan. In addition, the Board shall report to the Commission its findings and/or recommendations pertaining to any matter within the purview of comprehensive planning for the development and/or improvement of the City.

• 6:00 p.m.
• 2nd Thursday of each month
• Special meetings on the 4th Thursday of each month (if necessary)
• City Hall, Commission Chambers
