Commissioner Cindy Murphy-Salomone (District 3)
| Overview Cindy was elected as Parkland District 3 City Commissioner in November 2024. Cindy is a long-time resident of Parkland and moved to the City in 1999, with her husband, Ken. Cindy’s decision to run for Parkland City Commission was driven by her love for the City and its residents, coupled with a strong desire to contribute to the continued growth and well-being of the community. Originally from the Midwest, Cindy moved to the Southeast to attend Tulane University in New Orleans, where she earned a full academic scholarship and graduated cum laude. She then moved to Atlanta to gain business and leadership experience while working for a major retailer. However, Cindy’s long-held passion for law led her to South Florida, where she pursued and earned her Juris Doctor degree and met her husband. During law school, Cindy was actively involved with Moot Court, interned with a reputable law firm, and was privileged to clerk for The Honorable Natalie Baskin in the Third District Court of Appeals. After earning her Juris Doctor degree, Cindy joined a prominent insurance defense firm, where she represented a wide variety of diverse individual and commercial clients. She then transitioned to serving as corporate counsel, including at The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies and Travelers Insurance Company, where she is currently employed. During this time, she has held leadership roles, and been actively involved in numerous diversity networks. Cindy and her husband moved to Parkland just before the birth of their first daughter, Julia, and have lived in the community ever since. Their second daughter, Lindsey, was born three years later and both girls attended the public schools in Parkland starting with elementary school. Over the years, Cindy and her family have remained involved in the community, and volunteered with Best Buddies, Sports Buddies, Aston Gardens, and were actively involved in the school activities and local sports programs. Cindy’s daughters are survivors of the February 14, 2018 tragedy. In the aftermath, she and her family united with the Parkland community, the state, and country to advocate for healing, safety, and change. Cindy has volunteered with and supported Eagles Haven, Parkland Cares, Make Our Schools Safe, and Everytown. Her efforts to support the community and promote safety have been integral to her passion and love for Parkland and its residents. Cindy is also a member of the Parkland Friends of the Library, Parkland Chamber of Commerce, and was appointed to serve on the City’s Charter Review Board before running for the District 3 City Commission seat. Cindy is honored to serve on the City Commission and looks forward to giving back to her community. Cindy’s passion and vision is motivated by a steadfast commitment to Parkland’s future, ensuring it remains a safe, thriving, and family-friendly home for all residents. |
