Our Mission:
To provide City-wide recreational, cultural, educational, and passive programs and support activities for all age groups in the most safe, efficient, and cost effective manner using available City resources and facilities.
Our Core Services:
Administrative Division: Oversees all Parks & Recreation Divisions, City Recognized Sports Organizations, handles all league scheduling and pavilion reservations, general administrative office duties, Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meetings. Makes final decision on parks maintenance issues and handles all Park & Recreation related questions, complaints and comments by the residents. Separate program descriptions for Special Events, Recreational Programs and Parks support are included in the pages that follow.
City Recognized Sports Leagues: All sports leagues are run by private organizations within the City of Parkland and utilize City fields. The City is responsible for the scheduling of fields, purchasing required equipment and ensuring that the field scheduling website is updated with current information. The City also issues short term permits for residents to utilize City fields for non sports league events.
Tennis: The City of Parkland Tennis Program is provided on a contractual basis with the goal of offering a variety of tennis programs and events for all abilities and levels of play and to present a professional tennis support staff in a clean and well-organized facility. The contracted Tennis Director oversees and manages the Terramar Tennis Facility, manages the teaching staff in order to provide proper instruction and professionalism and offers a wide variety of tennis instruction and league play for adults and children.
Park Ranger Program: Provides security and sees to the customer service needs of parks patrons.
Concessions: Provides concessions in the City Parks which are provided on a contractual basis. Toby’s Concessions was awarded the bid for Concessions and began serving park patrons in March 2008. Toby’s provides park patrons with a quality product as well as exceptional customer services. Healthy alternatives are now offered at the concession stands within the parks.
Community Center and Amphitheatre: The Community Center and Amphitheatre were completed January 2008. The YMCA offers residents programming in the 24,000 square foot Community Center. This includes use of the gymnasium, fitness facilities, aerobics room and a variety of art, recreational and cultural classes.
