Updated March 13, 2008Broward County Charter Review Commission Public Hearing: April 9th
- Residents Can Express Views On Proposed Changes To The Broward County Charter -The Broward County Charter Review Commission will be conducting a public hearing to gather public input on proposed changes to the Broward County Charter. The meeting will be held on WED April 9th, beginning at 1:00 PM. Both will be held in Room 422 of the Governmental Center, 115 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale.
Since September 2006, the Broward County Charter Review Commission has been studying all phases of County Government. In the November 2008 General Election the voters of Broward County will be able to cast their ballot on those recommended changes to the Broward County Charter that are approved by the Charter Review Commission. The Broward County Charter governs the way Broward County does business. Proposed changes include:
- Creation of a Metropolitan Transit Authority
- Non-Interference by County Commissioners
- County Commission Meeting Rules & Voting
- Broward County Housing Council
- Broward County Regionalism Policy Statement
- Broward County Park Preservation
- Broward County Environmental Policy Statement
- Broward County Ethics Commission
- Revised Meeting Schedule of the Charter Review Commission and the Management & Efficiency Study Committee
- Broward County Public Safety Council
- Online Access to Public Records
- Redistricting
- Composition of the Broward County Commission
- Continued Support for Children’s Services
