World Book Online Reference Center

Screen Shot: Wolrd Book Online Reference CenterWorld Book Online Reference Center includes all of the articles from the 22-volume print set, plus thousands more. In addition, there are more than 9,500 pictures and maps, 115 videos and animations, 9,300 sounds, and more than 100 simulated historic Web sites.

The Panoramic, 360-degree views in this service allow children to experience many places described in World Book articles. The maps in the online atlas also cover the whole globe interactively, linking to each other, and directly to articles on continents, countries, states, provinces, cities and other places shown on the maps.
Back In Time is an especially useful resource for students with Social Studies assignments. World Book Online contains approximately 13,000 historic articles from past World Book Year Books present a you-are-there account of the most significant events of each year.

Children can search or browse for topics or find links to Back in Time articles in the Related Information box within many World Book articles. Surf The Ages is another useful feature that allows students to dip into imaginary news sites from Ancient Times, The Middle Ages, or Modern Times. Kids can then link to dozens of e-zines, want ads, bookstores, and other types of simulated Web sites, written from the perspective of the time. Conversely, Through The Year contains articles, activities, and quizzes that teach interesting facts about each month of the current year.

World Book resources to help parents help their children with schoolwork. The Features of the Month section also has school projects which reference World Book articles. This section additionally has multimedia and interactive quizzes.

This is an excellent resource for teachers and at home instructors.
