Thomas Register product classification system the industry standard for sourcing industrial products and services. In all, Thomas Register provides over 72,000 product heading classifications that can be searched by Product Name, Company or Brand Name. ThomasRegister.com searches both Manufacturers and Distributors and is additionally useful if you are trying to track down the 800 telephone number for a company.

Product headings are based on the manufacturers description, company or product/service specifications and application notes. Below each company's listing, a product description is provided to help users better understand the products and services available through each company. Users can use "keywords" to narrow their search results to match only companies whose product description matches that which they are trying to locate. Users can modify by keywords after a list of company search results is presented.

An example product description is: "Plastic Grit, Polycarbonate & Nylon Pellets for Dry Strip Surface Cleaning & Paint/Cartridge Removal, Deflashing & Stripping". Any of these words could be used to narrow your search.

Companies, products and services are cross referenced to ensure that you can find the exact information that you need.

PLEASE NOTE: SIC searches cannot be performed on the Thomas Register Internet Site or the print version of the Thomas Register which is located in the Reference Section.

Advanced Searching:
Boolean terms that can be used when searching Thomas Register include AND, OR, and NOT.

Example:

word1 AND word2 = Those records with both words in them. ("word1 word2" and also "word1 + word2")

word1 OR word2 = Those records with either word1 or word2 in them.

word1 NOT word2 = Those records with word1 in them, but not word2.

Search Tip:
It's best to start out with a broad search term and narrow from there.

Limiting Your Search By State:
You can choose to view results from a specific state. First, you must select a product heading and view the listing of companies within that heading. Beneath the list of companies, you will find search tools that will allow you to narrow your results by Keyword OR State. You can select one state or province at a time and view the companies within that state. If there are no companies in the state or province you select, you will get a No Results Found screen. Use your browser's back button to return to the original list.

Saving Your Search Results:
The MY TR feature enables you to create a series of bookmarks that allow you to save the search information you use most often.
