Parkland Library | Reference USA

Reference USA is a comprehensive database of 12 million U.S. businesses; 102 million U.S. residents; 683,000 U.S. physicians, surgeons and dentists; 1 million Canadian businesses; and 11 million Canadian residents. You can additionally access current and previously published yellow page ads using this service. The service also has the added feature of being able to locate additional businesses located within a 20 mile radius of the business you are trying to locate.

The business database contains contact information (including fax and toll-free numbers, as well as the companies website) for US Companies. You can additionally use this service to determine whether a company has a Fortune 1000 Ranking, the number of employees, estimated sales volume, headquarters/branch/subsidiary information, ticker symbol and exchange that public companies are traded on and SIC or ABI numbers. Reference USA is also useful for locating information on Corporate Executives.

There are two ways that you could search for information: (1) Quick Search and (2) Custom Search.

In a Quick Search you are able to search by company name, city, state or phone number. Search results are displayed 10 brief records per page. To view a detailed listing for a company simply select the company name.

In a Custom Search you can design your field search by checking off items of interest. Categories include: (1) Company Name; (2) Business Size; (3) Yellow Pages; (4) Special Selections; (5) Geographic Selections and (6) Phone Selections. You can also narrow your search by selecting Public Companies/Stock Exchange; Years in Database/Yellow Page Ad Size or Web Address.

To Print or Download Records

Simply check off the items that you want to print and click the download or print buttons. (Records are downloaded in excel format.)

Adults can access this service by entering the library barcode number that appears on the back of their card. This database requires a special login &/or password for juvenile patrons. Please call the Library for login/password information.
