Welcome to the Parkland Library Catalog!
Parkland Library patrons can use the catalog to search for and reserve materials online. In order to place items on reserve you will need the following:
- Your User ID: Your User ID apears on the back of your library card.
- Your Password: Your password is the last four digits of telephone number.
- A Current Email Address: You will not be able to place materials on reserve unless the library has a current email address on file for you.
PLEASE NOTE: If you receive an error message indicating that your password or email address is not valid, please contact the Circulation Desk so we can update your record with your current telephone number and/or email address. Call (954) 757-4200 for assistance.
Searching Basics:
You can locate items that the library owns in our catalog by running a Keyword Search. To assist young children with locating materials, the catalog also comes equipped with a Visual Catalog search feature. We are currently working on developing the Visual Catalog, so a Keyword Search is recommended.
- Select the Search Language: Our web-based catalog can be searched using several different languages: English, French, Spanish, German and Italian.
PLEASE NOTE: While you can run a search using one of these languages, your search results will still be displayed in English.
- Select the field that you want to search (Title, Author, Subject, etc)
- Type the Keywords that you want to run a search against in the text box.
- If you want to search more than one field you can combine your keywords by selecting AND, OR, NOT.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend that you use NOT when searching!
- Click on Run Search. Your search results will appear in brief record format on the Search Results Page.
Viewing Your Search Results:
- Your search results are displayed in Brief Record format. (Maximum of 10 brief records per screen).
- The Scroll Bar on the right side of the screen allows you to toggle up and down the page.
- When more than 10 records are found, click the Previous 10 or Next 10 to toggle back and forth between screens.
- You can also sort your search results by author, title, copyright date or call number by clicking on the Sort By drop-down menu and selecting your preference.
- If you want to view other items by the same author, title or subject simply click on the hyperlink of interest.
- One of the features of our catalog is Bookbag. If you see multiple items that you are interested in you can save the records for later viewing or batch printing before you end your search session. To save a record in your Bookbag simply click the check box at the bottom of a record of interest. To view the records that you have saved click the Bookbag button at the top of your screen.
PLEASE NOTE: When you log off or close your browser after you have finished your search session, you will loose all of the records that have been saved in your Bookbag!
- If you see an item that you are interested in, click the Details link to see:
- How many copies of an item the library currently owns
- Whether the item is currently checked out
- When it is due back.
You also place an item on reserve from this expanded record screen.
