Once A Dream…

Parkland Library founder Carolyn Marks and founding president, Diane David, reminisce about the library’s first modest beginnings in a small room in the Quigley Park concession stand in 1988. [Photos]

While they dreamed of finer accommodations, they worked along side many volunteers and local groups to ensure that Parkland would continue to have a library of its own. The children’s story hour was an instant hit and the book collection quickly outgrew its quarters. In 1992, the library moved into “spacious” quarters in a double trailer at Old City Hall. [Photos]

Now a Reality …

The 10,000 square foot facility includes a Children’s Reading Room, a community room that accommodates 54 people, a room for the Genealogical Society of Broward County and their extensive collection, several computers for Parkland residents’ use and more! [Photos]

The Friends of the Library are raising funds to further enhance the library including an open-air Story Garden with paved brick pathways.
