Policy Regarding Donations & Gifts
Donations of Used Books: Book donations are accepted by the Friends of the Library. Materials are taken with the following provisions:
- They must be in good condition with no mold, mildew, insects, etc.
- We can dispose of materials at our discretion: either adding to the library’s collection, placing with the Friends for their used-book sales or discarding.
- No value is placed on the materials; a receipt will be provided upon request.
- Large collections should be evaluated by the staff prior to being delivered to the Library.
We do not accept National Geographic (magazines or books), Readers Digest (magazines or books), Time-Life books, textbooks or encyclopedias.
If you are donating new books please consult with the staff prior to bringing them in. Book donations are accepted at the Circulation Desk. PLEASE REMEMBER NOT TO PUT DONATIONS INTO THE BOOK DROP.
Donations of funds are usually made via the Friends of the Library, but sometimes directly to the City. They can be for either a specific purpose, agreed to by both parties, or can be for general library use.
Donations of Artwork: The library does not normally accept artwork. Exceptions are made on a very limited basis either as a loan or a gift. Please contact the director for more information.
