The Parkland Historical Society began a project in 2009 to present to the Community the history of Parkland using historical markers placed in Parkland's parks, along walk ways and along bicycle paths.  The project, called Portals of Parkland's Past, has involved Historical Society members, building, erecting and dedicating what will eventually be approximately twenty historical markers.
