Parkland Kids Camp is a summer recreation program for children aged 5-11 (kindergarten through sixth grade). Children must be five years old by June 21, 2010 to enroll in the program. The hours of operation are from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Extended hours are available until 5:00 pm. For more information on dates and fees, view the
Registration and Camp Dates and Fees.
The program locations are at Westglades Middle School and Heron Heights Elementary for all sessions. Children are grouped according to the grade level they will be entering in the fall of 2010. The children are placed in a camp group of 25 children or less that are supervised by three counselors (senior counselor, junior counselor, and counselor in training). The camper to counselor ratio is eight to one.
Activities
The program consists of sports, arts and crafts, games, on-site activities, and field trips. Field trips are taken two or three days a week aboard air-conditioned motorcoach buses. The children go to facilities in the tri-county area such as the movies, bowling, water parks, arcades, museums, and more. Basic field trips are included in the cost of the camp.
