Garbage and Recycling
In accordance with Chapter 7 and Appendix A of the City's Code of Ordinances
, the City of Parkland requires that residential and commercial property owners utilize Waste Management for the collection of garbage. Please contact Waste Management at (954) 974-7500
for any questions or concerns regarding your garbage collection. Garbage pick-up occurs twice a week on designated collection days and garbage may be placed curbside not more than twelve (12) hours prior to the scheduled collection. All garbage must be in a covered container (not to exceed 32 gallons in size) or an appropriate tied garbage bag. There is no limit to the number of covered containers or garbage bags that may be placed at the curb however they must be placed in a neat and orderly manner. Special and hazardous wastes including, but not limited to, construction materials, paints, automobile parts, electronics, and household cleaners are excluded and will not be collected.
The City of Parkland requires that residential property owners recycle and utilize Waste Management for the collection of recyclable materials. Waste Management will provide each residential customer with one - 64 gallon rollout cart
(white with green lid) which is to be used for all accepted recyclable materials. Pick-up of recyclable materials occurs once per week and shall be placed curbside with the regular garbage on your scheduled recycling day. Acceptable materials include:
- newspapers and inserts
- plastic containers (#'s 1 thru 7)
- magazines, catalogs, & phone books
- juice boxes, cardboard boxes flattened
- glass bottles and jars
- steel, tin, & aluminum cans
- office paper & junk mail
- cereal & tissue boxes
Trash and recycling are collected on all holidays with the exception of Christmas Day. In the event your regularly scheduled trash and/or recycling collection day coincides with Christmas Day, it will be collected on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day.
Horticultural Debris Pick Up Days & Instructions
Horticultural debris consisting of grass clippings, palm fronds, or small tree branches are collected on the same day as trash pick-up, but must be separated from the trash debris. Tree branches must be bundled and tied with string and must not exceed four feet in length, four inches in diameter, and 40 pounds in weight per bundle. Tree stumps and logs will only be collected on bulk pick-up days provided they are cut properly and placed neatly at the curb.
Bulk Trash Pick-Up Days & Instructions
Beginning October 1, 2010, there will be twelve (12) bulk trash pick-up dates annually. Bulk trash pick-up dates vary throughout the City and residents should refer to the current 2013 Bulk Trash Collection Schedule
to determine their appropriate collection dates. Scheduling information is also available through Waste Management Inc. of Florida. Bulk trash should be placed curbside not more than twelve (12) hours prior to the scheduled collection. Bulk trash includes household appliances, furniture, and other items of a bulky nature such as tree stumps and logs provided they are cut to the appropriate size and placed neatly at the curb. Special and hazardous wastes including, but not limited to, construction materials, paints, automobile parts, electronics, and household cleaners are excluded and will not be collected.
Household Hazardous & Special Waste Disposal
accepts household hazardous waste (household cleaners, electronics, bug sprays, etc.) and special waste (i.e., paint, used motor oil, tires, car and boat batteries, etc.) at its Trash Transfer Stations.
