1.
How can I schedule an inspection?
You can access our Permit Connection from any computer, or access the Automated Inspection Request System (AIRS) from your touch-tone telephone to schedule, verify, or cancel an inspection. Inspections requested prior 6:00 AM will be scheduled for the same business day. You will need your permit number and validation (confirmation) number, as well as the inspection code. For complete instructions, please see the AIRS brochure posted on this site.
2.
How can I find out the results of a scheduled inspection?
The permit card posted on the job site is your record of inspection approvals. If an inspection is not approved, the inspector leaves a “red tag” on the permit board. Your duplicate copy of this document lists code sections and a brief description of the violation(s). Or, you can use the online Permit Connection or touch-tone AIRS system to confirm inspection approval or rejection.
3.
How can I cancel an inspection which I have scheduled?
You can use the online Permit Connection or touch-tone AIRS system to cancel an inspection request prior to 6:00 AM on the day of the scheduled inspection. Inspection route sheets are printed in the morning, so if not cancelled by 6:00 AM, the inspection will be considered scheduled as printed.
4.
How can I speak to an inspector about a scheduled inspection?
Inspectors can be reached at the Building Division telephone number between 7:30 and 8:00 AM, and are available to discuss questions you may have, or to make a specific appointment for a scheduled inspection.
5.
How can I speak to an inspector about some other issue?
Please call at any time to speak with a Permit Technician regarding an inspector’s scheduled office hours; you can leave a voice-mail message, or you can speak with the Chief Inspector for more immediate assistance.
6.
How do I know what inspections are required for my project?
The Building Division staff can assist you in customizing your inspection list specific to your project, to enable you to get the maximum benefit from the Permit Connection or Automated Inspection Request System.
7.
What if I have trouble scheduling an inspection with the Permit Connection or AIRS System?
Technical support for this system is available from any Permit Technician daily from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Please remember that a specific inspection must be “loaded” into your permit in order for you to schedule it via Permit Connection or AIRS. Please visit the Building Division and speak with a Permit Technician to “customize” your inspection list for your benefit.
