1. The Permit Application is two pages (or may be printed with both sides on one page). Do I need to fill out both sheets?

No. The first page is to be filled out by the licensed contractor (or by the property owner if the permit is Owner-Builder) when applying for a permit. If the scope of the job is such that licensed subcontractors must also provide labor and materials, each subcontractor must apply for a subpermit by using either another first page or by filling out the appropriate section of the second page when the general contractor has completed the first.

2. How do I request an inspection on my active permit?

To request an inspection, you must have the master permit number, the master permit confirmation number, and the three-digit inspection request code number. These first two numbers are printed in the upper right-hand corner of the master permit issued by the Building Division. If you are not the master permit holder (for example, you may be a subcontractor or homeowner), you will need to obtain the confirmation number directly from the company to whom the master permit was issued.

This number serves the purpose of a PIN number, so we do not release this number to anyone who calls in with this request. The inspection code numbers are listed in the AIRS Inspection Request Codes.

3. What is a Business Tax Receipt, and how do I obtain an application and more information?

A Business Tax Receipt, formerly known as an Occupational License, is required if your commercial or home business is physically located in the City of Parkland. Additional information, printable applications, and contact information may be found on the Business Tax Receipt page.

4. What is the purpose of the Notice of Commencement form?

A certified copy of the recorded Notice of Commencement must be submitted to the Building Division prior to the first inspection for permitted work where the direct contract is greater than $2,500, or in the case of existing heating or A/C equipment replacement, greater than $7,500.
