City
of Parkland Energy Incentive Reward Program
On January 16,
2008 the City Commission unanimously passed an ordinance creating
incentives for environmentally conscious purchases made by Parkland
residents and businesses. The program rewards Parkland residents and
businesses for taking extra steps to be environmentally conscious.
Residents and businesses making energy smart home improvements or
purchasing a hybrid vehicle will be eligible to receive incentive
rewards after meeting specific criteria. The plan incorporates the
following twelve program models: 1) Hybrid cars; 2) Incandescent light
bulb replacement; 3) Solar power landscape lighting; 4) Ultra low
flow toilets and shower heads; 5) FP&L Sunshine Energy Program;
6) Energy Star Program; 7) Exotic invasive tree replacement; 8) high
efficiency air conditioner replacement; 9) Isolé® IDP-3050
Plug Load Control; 10) A/C duct system test & repair; 11) Solar
panels for the home; 12) City of Parkland solar water/pool heater
program.
Program Criteria:
Applications attached.
- Applications
for the above listed programs will be available March 1, 2008 on
the City web site or at City Hall.
- Only completed
applications received by May 1 of each year shall qualify for payment,
which payment shall be made during the next fiscal year.
- No person or
entity shall be eligible for a payment under this program unless
that person or entity pays ad valorem taxes on property within the
City or resides in or owns a business located in the City; persons
or entities leasing property within the City shall qualify.
- Only purchases
after the effective date of this ordinance shall qualify.
- This program
is unrelated to the ad valorem taxes paid by anyone who qualifies
for the rebate and the funds for the program shall not be taken
from ad valorem tax revenues.
- When the funds
from that line item are exhausted, the program will be suspended
for that fiscal year unless additional non-ad valorem funds are
deposited in the line item account. No payments in excess of that
amount shall be made. No payments shall be made from ad valorem
revenues.
