Statewide Product Approval System

Q: What are the options for product approvals for projects submitted for review after October 1, 2003?

A: The Statewide product approval system covers products which affect the structural integrity of a building. There are two procedures outlined by the State for obtaining product approval documentation:

(1) There is an optional Statewide Product Approval program available for a manufacturer; information on these approved products is available at the http://www.floridabuilding.org.


(2) Alternatively, Local Product Approval is a method by which a product may be approved for a specific jurisdiction or for a specific project. More information regarding both of these options may be found on the Building Officials Association of Florida website at http://www.boaf.net.
