Municipal Boards & Advisory Committees

The City of Parkland values the relationship between City government and citizen Advisory Boards. Volunteer citizens serve their community with recommendations, input, and review of various issues facing the City so that the best decisions can be made by the City Commission of the City of Parkland. The democratic process allows and expects a high level of participation from the electorate on the local level of government. This level of participation is best manifested through Advisory Boards formally and informally in place so as to make the City of Parkland a better place.

If you are interested in becoming an Advisory Board member please fill out the Application For Board Appointment and return it to the City Clerk's Office.

Education Advisory Board

Pursuant to Parkland Ordinance 2005-30, the Educational Advisory Board shall make recommendations to the City Commission with regard to matters relating to education, to improve communications between schools and school populations, to recommend projects for improving school facilities and advise City Commission on health, safety, transportation and quality of life issues that effect students.

The Educational Advisory Board consists of five (5) regular members whose term shall run co-extensive with the Commissioner appointing that member, two (2) at large members whose term shall run two (2) years and the two (2) Alternate members whose term shall run two (2) years.

Westglades PTA Scholastic Book Fair: MON November 3rd through FRI November 7th (All day) at Westglades Middle School. The Book Fair will be open in the evening for Family Shopping on THU November 6th at 6:30 PM prior to the HOWL Book Club Meeting.

Media Center. This event will feature the Office of Prevention Programs - Positive School Culture/Anti- Bullying Presentation.
Principal's Recognition Program: TUE November 25th at 9:30 AM in the Westglades Middle School auditorium. This program for Students earning Straight A's the first marking period.

The City of Parkland has adopted an Anti-Bullying Awareness Campaign to educate residents on what bullying is, what anti-bullying programs are available and how to identify and work against bullying in the schools, playgrounds and sports fields in Parkland. Here are some resources you may find helpful.

Anti-Bullying Awareness Week in Parkland is November 8th thorugh November 15th. There will be a forum and various other events during this week and at other times throughout the year.
