City News

City Offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday
City of Parkland offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23, in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Here's how city services are affected:
City Hall: Will be closed
Solid Waste and Recyclables: Will not be affected by the holiday. Operating under regular schedule.
Library: Will be closed but open on Saturday
Parks: Will close early both days at 6:00pm.

Park Trails Elementary Student Artwork on Exhibit at Parkland City Hall
Artwork by Park Trails Elementary School students is currently on display at the City of Parkland City Hall at 6600 University Drive. The exhibit in the City Hall Atrium will be showcased throughout the months of November and December.

Curated by Park Trails Elementary High School art teacher Ms. Denise Caldaro, the City Hall windows displays nearly 30 pieces of student art.

All public and private school teachers who are teaching in schools located in Parkland are invited to exhibit student artwork monthly during the school year. For more information, please call Edenia Hernandez at 954-757-4200 or ehernandez@cityofparkland.org.

Senior Social Game Night

6:00 – 7:30 PM

Come out and enjoy a night of fun and games with friends. Participants will be able to play a variety of different board games and card games. Refreshments will be available. Free, but please register your attendance with Michele Smith msmith@cityofparkland.org 954-757-4142

Forgotten Soldier Outreach Project
Through Tuesday, November 27
The City of Parkland Parks and Recreation Department hosted by the Teen Advisory Group will be participating in the Forgotten Soldier Outreach Collection Drive from now until November 27. Our goal is to continually encourage the men and women who are abroad fighting for our great nation. Our hope is to inspire hope, strength and courage while they are separated from loved ones, families and friends. The outreach is committed to the American soldiers for as long as they are deployed. Items needed include: lip balm, dental floss, playing cards, slim Jims, batteries, travel toiletries. Creative Kids Craft
Friday December 7, 2012
Time 3:30- 4:30PM
Creative Kids Crafts are for children ages 7-11. We will be making Snowman Magnets and/or Snowman Picture Frames in the activity room at City Hall. This class is free to Parkland Residents. Registration can be done online through WebTrac or at the Parkland Amphitheater.
